HISTORY

Limoges is a city of porcelain and glazes that were produced here for the French upper class for centuries.

Although it was founded by the Romans as early as the last decade BC, the greatest development was recorded in the 13th century AD, mainly due to the local bishopric.

With the bishopric already established and the discovery of kaolin deposits nearby, the town began to develop porcelain and mosaics. This business provided the city with a graceful and charming beauty. Traces of the merchant craft can be seen all over the city, the dominant feature being a fountain adorned with a porcelain mosaic.
